Special Issue on Ecosystem Services Research

This special issue on Ecosystem Services will focus on the latest developments in ecosystem services. Ecosystem services comprise benefits from a multitude of resources and processes that are supplied by ecosystems. Humankind benefits from its products like clean drinking water and processes such as the decomposition of waste. Ecosystem services can be grouped into four broad categories: provisioning services such as the production of food and water; regulating services including the control of climate and disease; supporting services such as nutrient cycles and crop pollination; and cultural services comprising also spiritual and recreational benefits. As one of the most important and timely research fields of human life, ecosystem services are of great attraction to researchers.

In this special issue, we invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles that explore ecosystem services research. In this special issue, potential topics include, but are not limited to:

• Ecosystem benefits
• Ecosystem control of climate and disease
• Nutrient cycles
• Crop pollination
• Ecosystem decomposition of waste
• Ecosystem services and water-sensitive urban design
• Recreational benefits of ecosystems

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly specify the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title. The research field “Special Issue - Ecosystem Services Research” should be selected during your submission.
