Special Issue on Research on Biodiversity
“Biodiversity” is often defined as the variety of all forms of life, from genes to species, through to the broad scale of ecosystems. The number of species of plants, animals, and microorganisms, the enormous diversity of genes in these species, the different ecosystems on the planet, such as deserts, rainforests and coral reefs are all part of a biologically diverse Earth. It mainly includes Genetic diversity, Species diversity and Ecosystem diversity, among these three layers, Species diversity is the key part of biodiversity, it reflects the complicated relationship between organisms and environment, and also reflects the richness of biological resources. Since rational use of natural resources and the protection of the ecological environment is the foundation for human to achieve the sustainable development, biodiversity research and conservation has becoming a hot topic worldwide.
