Special Issue on Menstruation and Disease
Menstruation is a monthly shedding of a female's uterus lining; it lasts about 3 to 5 days (average) and contains blood, cervical mucus and endometrial tissue. It starts at menarche and ceases near menopause. During such long time, premenstrual syndrome, menstrual disorder and dysmenorrheal which tortures numbers of females could predict disease or physiological changes of body. Abnormal menstruation includes disorder of ovulation, cycle length and blood flow which may cause by hormone imbalance, uterine tumor or pregnancy. While dysmenorrheal may arise from endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and uterine adenomyosis. As menstruation has close relationship with women’ health, it is of great attractions to researchers.
