Advances of Natural Products in Antivirals

A natural product is a chemical compound or substance produced by a living organism, which can be found in nature. In the broadest sense, natural products include any substance produced by life. Natural products sometimes have pharmacological or biological activity that can be of therapeutic benefit in treating diseases. As such, natural products are the active components not only of most traditional medicines but also many modern medicines, such as antiviral drug. Most natural products in antivirals are considered relatively harmless to the host, and therefore can be used to treat infections, such as  HIV, herpes viruses, the hepatitis B and C viruses, and influenza A and B viruses.

In the present book, fourteen typical literatures about natural products in antivirals published on international authoritative journals were selected to introduce the worldwide newest progress, which contains reviews or original researches on medical science, hemadenology, virology, epidemiology, ect. We hope this book can demonstrate advances in natural products in antivirals as well as give references to the researchers, students and other related people.
