Announcement of InfraMatics

After 28 issues published over the past 9 years InfraMatics is taking a significant step forward. Having operated as a non-reviewed newsletter in the past we decided it was time to convert InfraMatics into a refereed journal. To make this happen Scientific Research Publishing (SCIRP, www.scirp.org) will take over the operations of InfraMatics as of the beginning of January 2012.
SCIRP is specialized in open access journals publications, which is currently publishing 160+ scientific journals in both online and printed versions. As mentioned the new InfraMatics will be refereed. All submitted papers will be subject to a rigorous and fair peer-review process. The Editor-in-Chief or an assigned editorial board member will monitor each paper before it is accepted and published online. We anticipate a turnaround time for each submitted paper to be noticeably faster than traditional journals.
Based on open access mode, SCIRP will charge a modest publication fee, which covers the costs associated with the publication process, such as copy-editing, typesetting, online-hosting of the published paper, and producing printed issues. SCIRP may also grant discounts to authors from lower income countries, students or authors in financial difficulty, and will also provide publishing free-of-charge to some key authors in the field.
We envision a journal that has a broader focus than the original newsletter. The main focus will still be infrasound research but we will encourage papers in related fields such as seismo-acoustics and atmospheric science.

If you have any input on the make-up of the new journal please let me know. We are looking for a paper for the inaugural issue so if you have a paper that is nearing completion please consider submitting it to the new InfraMatics.
