ABSTRACT:
This
article reports the experience preparing a morbidly obese group to undergo
bariatric surgery in a private healthcare plan in Brazil. The method used was
based on assumptions of the operative groups by Pichon-Rivière (1998) and in psychoanalysis. The
results have been satisfactory indicating that the multidisciplinary model,
organized by the perspective of the operating group, is a viable alternative to
intervention with morbidly obese patients.
