Special Issue on Group Theory

Group Theory is a mathematical theory which studies the algebraic structures known as groups. The concept of a group is central to abstract algebra: other well-known algebraic structures, such as rings, fields, and vector spaces can all be seen as groups endowed with additional operations and axioms. Groups recur throughout mathematics, and the methods of group theory have influenced many parts of algebra. Linear algebraic groups and Lie groups are two branches of group theory that have experienced advances and have become subject areas in their own right. Various physical systems, such as crystals and the hydrogen atom, can be modelled by symmetry groups. Thus group theory has many important applications in physics, chemistry, and materials science. Group theory is also central to public key cryptography. As one of most important branches in the pure mathematics, group theory is of great attractions to researchers.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original researches and review articles on exploring group theory. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Extensible automorphisms problem
  • Potentially characteristic subgroups characterization problem
  • Geometry on groups and spaces
  • Algebraic lie theory and representation theory
  • Fundamental groups and periods
  • Algebra, deformations and quantum groups
  • Lie theory and representation theory

Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue - Group Theory” should be chosen during your submission.

According to the following timetable:

Submission Deadline

January 27th, 2015
