Special Issue on Myocarditis

Myocarditis is inflammation of heart muscle and it is most often due to infection by common viruses, such as parvovirus B19, less commonly nonviral pathogens such as Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme disease) or Trypanosoma cruzi, or as a hypersensitivity response to drugs. The definition of myocarditis varies, but the central feature is an infection of the heart. Myocarditis is often an autoimmune reaction and the definitive diagnosis requires a heart biopsy. The consequences of myocarditis thus vary widely. It can cause a mild disease without any symptoms that resolves itself, or it may cause chest pain, heart failure, or sudden death. As one of the most important research fields of human life, myocarditis is of great attractions to researchers.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original researches and review articles on exploring myocarditis. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

• Inflammatory cardiomyopathy
• Myocardium inflammation
• Heart muscle damage
• Myocardium infection
• Myocardium treatment
• Heart tissue death
