Special Issue on Leadership in Emergency Preparedness and Management
This special issue on Leadership in Emergency Preparedness and Management seeks papers from nurses, inter-professional health care professionals, and professionals with health related research. Research papers will be prioritized but case studies of emergency/disaster experiences and education approaches for health professional students/practitioners are taken into consideration as well.
Papers may focus on one or all four key emergency management components: Prevention & Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, & Recovery. An all hazards approach will be emphasized including natural and human-induced disasters such as hurricanes, explosions, terrorism, and mass gatherings. Both hospital and public health/community management approaches are welcomed.
At this moment in time, global trends identify an increase in natural disasters, particularly related to weather, an increase in human-induced disasters, particularly related to terrorism; and increased concerns about communicable diseases in mass gathering settings. Nurses and inter-professional health care professionals are expected to take a leadership role in hospitals and communities. This special issue will highlight emerging scholarship related to leadership in emergency preparedness and management.
Authors should read over the journal’s Authors’ Guidelines carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal at Paper Submission System.
