Special Issue on Abnormal Birth Weight
Birth
weight is
the body weight of a baby at its birth. Abnormal birth weight refers to low
birth weight and macrosomia. There have been numerous studies that have
attempted, with varying degrees of success, to show links between birth weight
and later-life conditions, including diabetes, obesity, tobacco
smoking and intelligence. And the causes of abnormal birth weight are
complicated, involving parents’ physical conditions, life styles, socioeconomic factors.
Figuring out the links between these causes and abnormal birth weight, will benefit
maternal and fetal health and lower the risks of diseases in infant’s
later-life.
In this special issue, we intend to
invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original researches and
review articles on exploring abnormal
birth weight. Potential
topics include, but are not limited to:
-
Causes of low
birth weight
-
Causes of macrosomia
-
