Abstract: It is imperative to strengthen the innovative ability for the undergraduates. Here, several approaches were evaluated on undergraduates of Zhengzhou University, Henan, P. R. China. Several strategies were very helpful for the students to develop or further improve their innovative ability. These include development of an integrated experiment platform for effective teaching; creating more opportunities for students to participate in innovation project application and competition; providing students with more opportunities for research assistant; implementation of the policy of opening-the-laboratory to the students; enhancing the union of “produce, learn, and research”, and taking advantages of the internship activities outside of the university; improving teaching methods, and establishing an incentive reward policy to cultivate students interest in developing their innovative ability. These strategies are very efficient for improving student's innovation ability.
