Abstract: how to construct information security undergraduate is the focus and the hot issue. Especially afterthe riot in the Xinjiang regional capital of Urumqi on July 5, 2009, information security training of personnelfor Xinjiang has become particularly urgent. Aimed at economic and social development needs in XinjiangUygur Autonomous Region, Xinjiang University applied for and obtained the right to set up informationsecurity specialty in 2006. This paper introduces the specialty basis of information security construction inXinjiang University, discusses the orientation of information security specialty, and drafts the informationsecurity curriculum system. The system includes two main parts, namely curriculum and practice whichreflects regional and local characteristics of Xinjiang region. Finally, the existing problems of XinjiangUniversity’s information security construction and future direction of efforts are proposed. We sincerely hopethis paper can provide a reference for other universities and colleges which are interested in informationsecurity construction.
