Abstract: COMPASS is a new kind of satellite navigation system designed by China. The performance of COMPASS was analyzed in this paper by Geometric Dilution of Precision (GDOP) and N Asset Coverage, which affect the positioning accuracy of navigation system. Furthermore, a novel approach is proposed to augment the navigation performance assisted by Low Earth Orbit (LEO) telecommunication satellites. The simulation results show that the augmented navigation system can meet a better requirement to China and its neighbor areas.
