Abstract: The research on 3D face reconstruction is a hot research topic and meanwhile a difficult problem in the field of computer vision and computer graphics. In this paper, the contents and difficulties of the research on 3D face reconstruction are analyzed. An overview of recent developments of 3D face reconstruction is provided in three aspects: reconstruction based on 3D data, reconstruction based on the generic face model, and reconstruction based on stereo vision. The key technologies of 3D face reconstruction based on binocular stereo vision, such as camera calibration and stereo images matching, are reviewed in details. And the principal algorithms are also discussed. Finally, the deficiencies of 3D face reconstruction and the future research focuses are discussed in this paper.
