Abstract: Estimation of direction of arrival (DOA) for sources by array is widely developed for the super resolution. Errors of amplitude and phase (Complex gains) in array receiving channels may reduce the spatial spectra peaks or change positions of the peaks, which lead to the lower resolution for DOA estimation. So, Complex gains have to calibrate to enhance the quality of DOA estimation. This paper presents calibration methods of arrays complex gains and noise. A proposal is shown to utilize an auxiliary testing source on mi- crowave front-end and extracting the gain and noise parameters from the estimated covariance matrix at re- ceivers back-end of array elements. The paper supply two algorithms, column ratios and least squares iterative method, to estimate the gain (include amplitude and phase) and noise parameters of each receiving channel based on covariance matrix. Advantage of them is the less computation load for real time processing. Analy- sis and simulation results illustrate that the methods discussed are efficient.
