Abstract: Fractured aluminium alloy was analysed by chemical analysis, hardness testing, metallographic examination, macro and micro-fractography. The result showed that the gathering of eutectic- silicon phase in the microstructure has increased the brittleness of the material,reduced the mechanical performance and caused the fracture.
