Abstract: Hexagonal LnPO4 (Ln=La, Ce, Nd) nanocrystal materials with different morphologies were successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to characterize the resulting materials. It was found that the crystallinity of hexagonal LnPO4 (Ln=La, Ce, Nd) decreased gradually as the pH value increased. Moreover, the morphological evolution from nanorods with high aspect ratio to irregular nanoparticles was obtained as the pH values increasing. Furthermore, a possible mechanism for LnPO4 (Ln=La, Ce, Nd) shape evolution was proposed based on the results.
