Abstract: Nickel nanoparticles were deposited on monocrystalline silicon template by microwave heating method. These nanoparticles catalysed the growth of carbon fibers using acetylene as carbon source under hydrogen atmosphere. The reaction occurred in the tubular furnace. The pre-processing of silicon template was observed by high video microscope. The morphology of nickel nanoparticles and carbon fibers on silicon template were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM).
