Abstract: PMMA-b-PDMAEMA block ionomer was successfully synthesized via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) technique, the resulting copolymer was characterized by FT-IR and GPC. And then the block ionomer was blended with PVDF to improve the properties of PVDF membranes. The modified blend membrane exhibited better properties such as hydrophilicity, fouling-resistant and filter flux than those of neat PVDF membranes. Moreover, the flux of aqueous solution through the 14.3 wt% PMMA-b-PDMAEMA/PVDF blend membranes increased with increasing the solution pH values from 5 to 10, and the membranes displayed good pH responsive properties.
