Abstract: Carboxymethylcellulose(CMC) grafted 2 - acrylamido -2 - methyl propane sulfonic acid(AMPS)/ acrylamide(AM) superabsorbent resin was synthesized by microwave irradiation and the functional group of resin was charactered by FTIR. The impact factors of synthesizing super absorbent resin such as amount of crosslinker and initiator, the ratio of monomer ,neutralization degree and microwave power were discussed. Meanwhile, water absorption of resin in different salt solution was studied. The results showed that the water absorption rate of resin was 780g/g in distilled water and 83g/g in normal saline respectively when the optimum conditions. However, the absorbency was decreased sharply with increasing of salt concentration in solution, Moreover, the water absorption rate have related to the valence of cation, the sequence of water absorption rate was: NaCl >MgCl2 > AlCl3, indicating that the higher of the valence, the lower of the water absorption rate.
