Abstract: A series metal complexes have been synthesized, such as 8-hydroxyquinoline aluminum (Alq3), 8-hydroxyquinoline magnesium (Mgq2), where 8-hydroxyquinoline as ligand, Al3+, Mg2+, Zn2+, Eu3+, Dy3+ respectively as the central ion. The characteristics of the complexes have been analyzed using X-ray diffraction, infra-red spectrum (IR), UV-visible absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. The results show that 8-hydroxyquinoline metal complexes have good properties, which depend on quinoline ring., the fluorescence intensity of Complex in ethanol decreased with the decrease of the concentration; Znq2 has the strongest luminescent intensity.
