Abstract: In this paper, Core-shell structure of the hollow glass microsphere/PSt composite particles was obtained by using emulsion polymerization by wrapping the polystyrene to the surface of hollow glass microsphere. It can be known that the hollow glass microsphere was successfully coated with polystyrene by analyzed the samples with FT-IR、TG and the scanning electron microscopy. The amount of emulsion has great influence on the coating of the hollow glass microsphere with polystyrene. When the amount of SDS was 0.3g/200mL, the coating effect of hollow glass beads with polystyrene was best. Adding the hollow glass microsphere/PSt composite particles to the coatings, hot reflectivity has greatly improved contrast with adding unmodified hollow glass bead to the coatings. Coatings has the best heat reflective when adding 3.0% to 5.0% mass fraction of modified hollow glass microsphere, the heat reflectivity can be arrived at 89.0%.
