Abstract: Tb0.3Dy0.7Fe2 alloys with <311> axial alignment were prepared by an electric arc melting- directional solidification technique and controlling melting termperature and heat flux orientation. The results shows that Tb0.3Dy0.7Fe2 alloys have an higher magnetostriction, and the magnetostriction λS arrive 988×10-6 under 0MPa stress and 400 kA·m-1 magnetic field. X-rays diffraction shows that there is (311) strongest peak for the axial orientation of alloy rod with (220) weak peaks, and there are (220) strongest peak for the transverse- cross orientation of alloy rod with (531), (620) weak peaks.
