Abstract: In order to investigate the filming character of chitosan dissolved in bamboo vinegar, the property of chitosan-bamboo blend solution was studied by using 4 times dilution bamboo vinegar as a solvent at different temperature and storage time. A solution of chitosan dissolved in 1% (v/v) acetic acid was made as a contrast. The filming effect was evaluated with the method of filming on a glass plate and on fruits surface. The results indicated that the relative viscosity of chitosan-bamboo solution increased along with the concentration and reduced along with temperature increasing and time lasting. The transparency of the blend solution was increased through adding NaCl or Tween–80. The filming flexibility was improved by adding the glycerol, however, the moisture permeability of the film increased along with increasing the glycerol dosage. The chitosan-bamboo vinegar solution could be used for a packaging film material with concentration of 1% ~2% when used on the surface of fruits or 2.5% used as single film material. The appropriate condition of chitosan- bamboo vinegar solution for filming was by preparation at 40-50℃ with 0.25%(w/v) NaCl, 2% (w/v)Twain-80 based on the solution or with 50%(w/w) glycerol based on the chitosan.
