Abstract: By experimental methods, the different printing characteristics of coated art paper and matt art paper were tested and discussed. The results showed that the optimum printing contrasts and solid densities of CMYK colors of these two kinds of paper were not the same, and the prints on matt art paper had relatively smaller dot gains, higher ink trappings, higher brightness and greater total dot area coverage than those on coated art paper under the same printing conditions. This research could be used to optimize printing process, improve printing quality and promote process standardization.
