Abstract: With the rapid development of Internet and World Wide Web,there are increasingly rich resources on the Internet . In order to help people to get useful information in the broad array of Internet , various Internet- based information retrieval services came into being and have been developing rapidly.General search engines have become very powerful, and generally speaking , they can meet the need of common users.The emergence of vertical search engines is specifically for solving the problem in time when users just want professional information , specific industries, or theme related information. However, the strategy of focused crawler has affected the accuracy and efficiency of search engines. In this paper, we analyzed the strategies of focused crawler, and proposed an improved search algorithm which was combined heuristic strategies based on text content with search strategy based on link structure evaluation. Through a large number of experiments, the improved search strategy was proved to be effective and feasible.
