ABSTRACT: The behavior of the determinants explaining the gender wage gap of young people
in the Congo labor market is examined in this paper. Using quantile regression
from data related to the ETVA conducted in 2015 and the EAPEC (2018) conducted
in 2018 in Congo. The main results show that education, place of residence,
marital status, and age are the explanatory factors of wage inequalities
between men and women in the Republic of Congo. The results obtained lead to
the conclusion that wage inequalities among young people are a major challenge
for the Congolese state. Social policies oriented towards the education system
and policies related to the economic environment should be promoted.
